Choice B: Tell how the following characters respond to the jury's verdict: Bob Ewell.
From my point of view I think that Jem feels betrayed by everyone in his town because no one stood up for Tom when he knew it was the right thing to do. He also feels anger toward those who are proud of the verdict and wont try to do anything to stop it. He also cries because he knows that they are convicting an innocent man to death. He knows its wrong especially when the proof isn't even there to completely make a decision.
Aunt Alexandra doesn't really show that she minds that Tom is going to jail. She was sitting when they came back to the house. She was acting as if she didn't care that a completely innocent man was going to die. Miss Maudie on the other hand was stating her opinion to the kids plain as day. She didn't agree with them, but what could she do about it? She didn't want him to die, but she's hoping that the plead case would help him in some way.
Dill also cried during the case, but he also thinks that what they are doing isn't right. He is so mad that he can't do anything about it. He said he just wants to sit and laugh at all the people that just gossip about the case, and people in general. He doesn't want to be a part of the world that has to do those types of things. Bob Ewell didn't really like the fact that Atticus defended Tom, and he spat on Atticus's face. He was glad that Tom was going to be killed instead of him being caught abusing Mayella. He wasn't so glad that he almost got caught because of Atticus. He even said he would get him back.

ReplyDeleteITs mauro,
Nice post, i like how you covered a good amount of characters and kept it short and sweet. Good job at focusing on all the charactures equaly and staying away from focusing on one perspective. thats a hard thing to do, i usually end up focusing my paper on one main idea. XD
On thing though, i cant agree with your thoughts on the characters feelings. i wasn't getting the same vibe. I am fairly certain that everyone did what they could to save tom. And jem knows that Atticus tried and thats already one person who tried to help. also, dill mainly felt bad about how people treaded blacks. not that he couldnt do anything about it.
Keep up the good work, school is almost ova!!!
PEACE.
