Choice B: Tell how the following characters respond to the jury's verdict: Bob Ewell.
From my point of view I think that Jem feels betrayed by everyone in his town because no one stood up for Tom when he knew it was the right thing to do. He also feels anger toward those who are proud of the verdict and wont try to do anything to stop it. He also cries because he knows that they are convicting an innocent man to death. He knows its wrong especially when the proof isn't even there to completely make a decision.
Aunt Alexandra doesn't really show that she minds that Tom is going to jail. She was sitting when they came back to the house. She was acting as if she didn't care that a completely innocent man was going to die. Miss Maudie on the other hand was stating her opinion to the kids plain as day. She didn't agree with them, but what could she do about it? She didn't want him to die, but she's hoping that the plead case would help him in some way.
Dill also cried during the case, but he also thinks that what they are doing isn't right. He is so mad that he can't do anything about it. He said he just wants to sit and laugh at all the people that just gossip about the case, and people in general. He doesn't want to be a part of the world that has to do those types of things. Bob Ewell didn't really like the fact that Atticus defended Tom, and he spat on Atticus's face. He was glad that Tom was going to be killed instead of him being caught abusing Mayella. He wasn't so glad that he almost got caught because of Atticus. He even said he would get him back.

B. Compare yourself to either Scout or Jem
Comparing myself to Jem at his age; I was more like him then I'd like to admit.
One of the biggest, is not wanting our siblings company; we have them around when it's a convenience to us. Another is putting our friends over our family, like how he is when Dill is around. I also think that he acts like he knows more then he really does, which I think that everyone does. Going off what I said I also think he gets a blow when someone proves him wrong, because I know I do when I'm set on the thought.
Some things that I think are different about us not very discriptive but it's still differences. The one thing that I know that is the biggest thing; he's a boy. Everone knows him (either from his family or something) and for me at school not a lot of people know me (in general or at all). Also that he has a father but not a mother; I have a mother but not a father; I think that's a pretty big difference. I also think that he goes out with friends to play and such, while I usually stay at home.
Jem really loves a sport, for him it's Football, I also really like a sport, but for me it's Soccer. Jem also can, generally, control himself when he is angry. I can also do that, unless it's about a really touchy subject, also like Jem. He is also the eldest between 2 kids, that have an age difference of 4 years, as am I with my little brother. I noticed that Jem also is repsectful and well mannered toward adults, I'm always like that with adults, even if I know them well.
I'm proud that I have these aspects, I can see where it lead one person (even if they are fictional), and learn from them.

Chapters 13-15
Perspective: Dill
This whole week could have never been so hectic. My new daddy is nice and all, but my momma isn't with me no more. It's like he was extracting her from me, and she don't mind one bit. I decided to run away from them, and I knew they wouldn't miss me one bit. Yes, they bought all the toys and books and items I wanted, but it was only so that I would leave them alone. My new daddy also thought that boys like me should be out and about; instead of inside pestering their parents. So as I went all 300 miles from Meridian to Maycomb, and I knew exactly were I wanted to go; where the people would take me no matter what.
I knew my plan was infallible since my parents wouldn't be paying attention to me anyhow. I had obtained $13 from my momma's purse so that I could buy a ticket to Maycomb. It was fairly easy since the conducter was fairly accuanted to me. On my arrival I was exhausted and hadn't eated since the day before at my house. I knew that I had a while further to go, but I knew my way around, so it wouldn't take long. I arrived at the Finch's house and climbed into Scout's bedroom through the window. I didn't want Atticus to know about me, he might send me back. I could hear the clatter of dishes and bits of talk here and there. They were eating dinner and it was agonizing to sit there and wait.
I was preoccupied with the thoughts of food until I heard Scout enter her room. I had meant to emerge then, but she stepped on my hand. I didn't know what to do so I stayed and waited, that is until someone started hitting me with a broom. I came out to stop who ever it was, I realized my mistake as I looked into the eyes of Jem. Scout got me some corn bread to eat, which I happily scarfed down. Jem hollared for Atticus and I was scared for my life. To my up most amazment, he allowed me to stay. That is after a long talk with my momma and Auntie Rebecca. The day after Jem, Scout, and I were up to our old scheme and acts as if nothing happened. I knew I had chosen the right people to go to.

- Chapters 10-11
- Perspective: Mrs. Dubose
Ever since that Jeremy and Jean Louise Finch were little they would always pass by my house. They were dirty little kids whose father let them run crazy and won't control them. I'll always ask them where they are going and if they are allowed to go to town. Their father's actions have always been cantankerous and now he's a nigger-lover too. I always tell them how I'm pretty sure they'll end up, even when they are on the other sidewalk. One day Jean Louise said 'Hey, Mrs. Dubose' I told her straight off 'Don't you say hey to me, you ugly girl! You should say good afternoon, Mrs. Dubose!' She should start acting more lady like; wearing dresses and camisoles. When I talked about their father and his wife I can always see the boy tense with inaudible anger.
Even though I say that say those things about their father, he is a real gentleman. Whenever he comes around he tells me I look like a picture, I always enjoy it. He tells me the courthouse news, and wish me a good day tomorrow. Then leave while swinging his daughter onto his shoulders. The way I acted pretty much contradicted how I act toward him, but I think it's fair to be nice. I knew he had some idea my time was coming, and I know I could feel it. I felt that I was pretty inconspicuous to those who don't know about it. With Jessie helping me, I can go slightly longer with out my medicine. I just need a distraction, and picking on the kids helps a bit. One day I pushed it too far; I told Jean Louise that she should be more lady-like and that if she keeps up her ways she'll be working in the OK cafe. I also mentioned their father working with niggers in the court house. I said their father was no better then the trash he protects. I watched him as he went scarlet and walked away from the house.
I knew it was Jeremy Finch when Jessie told me my yard was torn up and my flowers were destroyed. I knew my time was extremely close, and I really needed a greater distraction. I had Jeremy read to me for a month, he brought along his sister too. I didn't mind though. I knew that Jean Louise felt that she was in some type of peril from the way she timidly entered. I couldn't pay much attention to his reading, but I eventually could longer. I dismissed them a week longer then we agreed, but I knew I could stay away from my medicine longer. I dismissed them very early today, I feel my time is up. I'm glad I was able to go so long with out my medicine, and it's all thanks to Jeremy and his sister.

Taking sides
Journal #3
- Chapters 8 and 9
- Perspective: Uncle Jack
I met up with Jem and Scout at Maycomb Junction on Christmas Eve, and I would be with them for a whole week. We were with my sister Alexandra and her grandson Francis. I was remembering one Christmas when I nursed Scout's foot that had a pretty nasty splinter in it. I kept her laughing about a preacher who hated going to church then I pulled the splinter out. She interrupted me about when I was going to pull out the splinter, so I held up a slightly bloody splinter. My memories were interupted when Scout asked about the package I was holding for her. I didn't want to tell her now, so I was thankful when Jem changed the subject to my cat, Rose Aylmer. Shes a beautiful yellow cat, and the only female I can permanently stand. I took out some snapshots of her for them to admire. I told them that she eats all the leftover fingers and ears from the hospital after they told me she was getting fat.
I found out that Scout took up a habbit of cussing. I thought that her mouth would stay ingenous for a while longer. After a while of hearing her cuss, I got fed up and decided to have a talk with her. After supper, I entrusted her with the responsibility of only saying that when there's extreme provocation. I was finished with the conversation, so I decided that we should decorate the tree now. We decorated the tree until it was their bedtime. I then put their presents under the tree and waited for them to awaken. I watched as they pounced on their gifts that was fanatical we knew we would only let them shoot out at Atticus's Landing.
I was inside the house when I heard Alexandra fussing about Scout and Francis; I paid no mind. That is until I saw Scout punch Francis straight in the mouth. I grabbed her arms, put them on her sides and told her to stand still. I asked who started the fight when Francis told Alexandra that Scout jumped him and called him a lady-whore. I got mad at her and spanked her a couple times. We decided it was time that we went back home, and once we got there Scout ran straight to her room and slammed the door. I went to her, told her she had it coming when she told me I wasn't fair. I was perplexed until she told me that I didn't hear her side of the story. So I decided to hear her out; once she told me I was debating wether to go back and give Francis a good spanking. That is till Scout told me not to tell anyone, and I knew I owed her that much, so I went with out sayin' nothin'.

Theater days
Journal #2
- Chapters 4-7
- Perspective: Dill
I've finally come back to Maycomb, and I get to see Jem and Scout again. I told them I got to ride a train all by myself from Meridian to Maycomb Junction. We immediately began deciding what to play, but Scout didn't want to play the usual game. She irked me a bit, but then I said I could smell death. I played with Scout a bit by saying she was going to die in 3 days, but then Jem started talking about Hot Steams. I didn't know who to believe, but Scout wanted to ride in the big tire. I thought that would be fun, but then he pushes her with a hint of malignant that she went spinning into the Radley's yard.
Jem and I ran after to with Jem hollering at her to get out. I watched as they started bickering with each other until Jem ran to get the tire. Before they could argue again Calpurnia called us for lemonade. After Jem had his second glass he announced that he had a great idea for a new game; he told us it was about Boo Radley. We were going about who would be who and Scout protested, she's been acting like such a girl. Finally when we got situated Scout was Mrs. Radley, I was Mr. Radley, and Jem was Boo Radley. As the summer progressed, so did our game. Jem showed that Boo was a tyranny and with that, we continued and added more characters and words too.
It was just a small little drama that was made up with all the gossip from around town but it was enjoyable none the less. When Mr. Nathan Radley passed on his daily trip, we would stand still and silent till he was out of sight. One day Atticus came and asked us what we were playing. Jem evaded the question as best he could; we were close to being caught. Scout tormented Jem enough so that we didn't play much anymore. After a while it was unanimous that the drama was over. Jem and I started making plans to do other things, and we excluded Scout a lot. She mainly was hanging around Miss Maudie's, and we called for her only when we needed a third person. We didn't mind though, she was acting like such a girl latley, and we had new plans to go into action.

First Impressions
Journal #1
Chapters 1-3
Perspective of Scout
During the summer, when I was 6 and Jem was 10, we met a new guy. We peeked through the wire fence at Miss Rachel's house and he was hanging around. He was a small person with snow white hair and blue eyes. He was wearing blue linen shorts, he was a eccentric person, and his name is Charles Baker Harris, but people called him Dill. He told us he could read, but so could I; I didn't really know what to think of him. I could tell that Jem liked him though, and he told him about Boo Radley, the malevolent phantom. Jem told Dill all the things that irked and intimidated lots of people, but he wasn't scared one bit. Dill was really interested, and he dared Jem to try to make a Radley come out!
Jem never said no to a dare, but that one was BIG! He wanted to persevere and do it, but the Radleys could kill him, and Jem knew it.When we got to the Radleys house Jem was spooked, I could tell. He says he has me to worry about when he gets scared to do somethin'. Dill could tell too, so they made a compromise; Jem just needed to run up and slap the house. I could tell that he was relieved, and he did it fast. Once he finished he ran right past us, and Dill and I ran after him. He actually did it! It was impressive, but soon after that Dill had to go back to Meridian. I was sad at first but then I remembered I was going to school soon! I couldn't wait, I wouldn't be left out anymore.
My first day of school was bad, I got in trouble for things that I couldn't help doing. My teacher, Miss Caroline, didn't really like me from the start. When she found out that I could read she said mean stuff about my daddy, and looked down on me. Then she thought Walter forgot his lunch and was offering him money. She didn't know that the Cunningham's didn't take nothing from no one that they couldn't pay back. And Walter surely couldn't pay that back, he hasn't even seen 3 quarters together in his life. When I told her about it, she told me I was starting off the wrong foot in everyway. She told me to hold out my hand and I thought she was gonna spit on it; make some type of deal with me. Instead she pulls out her ruler and gave me half a dozen quick little pats, then told me to stand in the corner. I still feel shamed, that I dont really wanna talk about it anymore.
